ATTEMPTED MURDER IN ATWATER VILLAGE
On Saturday, May 30th, 2009 at about 6:00 pm in the 3200 block of Casitas Avenue a man, who was sitting in his car, was approached by gang members demanding to know where he was from. Before the victim could reply, the gang members shot him in the head. Fortunately the bullet was of low caliber and did not penetrate the victim’s skull. The suspects fled in a green Toyota Camry.
LAPD Police Officers who were in the area observed a vehicle matching the description and attempted to stop the suspects and a short pursuit ensued. The suspects, observing the Police vehicle driving in the opposite direction, then attempted to drive their vehicle into the Police vehicle while driving in from the opposite direction The suspects jumped out of their vehicle before it collide with Police vehicle. One suspect was taken into custody for “Assault with Deadly Weapon” against the Police Officer and one suspect is outstanding. The officer in the police vehicle sustained no injuries.
