CSI C-PAB Summit Open to NC's Reps. Sat.June 6, 2009
Greetings from the Northeast Community Police Advisory Board:
Each year, the CPAB in conjunction with the LAPD Community Policing Unit (CPU), Community Relations Office (CRO), the LAPD Commission, and the (7) Regional Community Police Advisory Boards convene an "invitation only" Citywide CPAB Summit to engage members, city, county, and state officials on current public safety and crime prevention measures Citywide and Nationwide. We are excited to introduce this year's theme as "C S I (Crime Scene Investigation) 2009 CPAB Summit" which is inline with much of the popular programming we enjoy on television, radio, and read in the news today. It will be held on Saturday June 6, 2009 from 7;30am - 2:30pm at the California State University, Los Angeles LA Hertzberg-Davis Forensic Science Center, 5151 State University Drive in East Los Angeles
This year we are extending a "SPECIAL INVITATION ONLY" to two (2) stakeholders of each certified Neighborhood Councils that are not CPAB Members to participate in this year’s event to experience first-hand crime-solving techniques used in crime scenes through-out the Nation. This is the first time that CPAB’s have allowed the public to participate in our event. We are asking that each Neighborhood Council interested in attending set-aside $500 to support this event and to select the two (2) NC delegates granted "SPECIAL ACCESS ONLY" to attend the "C S I 2009 CPAB Summit."
As part of the package for your support, those in attendance will be served a FREE EXTENDED BREAKFAST BUFFET, special souvenirs, LAPD Pendants, Auction/Raffles all day, autographs by Chief William Bratton, tickets for ride-alongs, participate in ballistics, Air Support ride-alongs, and Dinner offers with LAPD Brass, and much, much more! The participants will be actively involved with specialized-staged Crime Scenes, help develop problem-solving measures, and be educated on LAPD CSI internal investigations with Q & A Sessions and guided tours of the facilities through-out the day. The Lucky Participants will also have an exciting opportunity to participate in -policing insider investigations on crime scene like DNA fingerprinting, ballistics, blood splatter analysis, gunfire projectory scenes, and countless insider info. not usually available to the general public. Guests speakers and teams of detectives and criminalists provide you with interactive displays, presentations and a crime scenario depicting various components of evidence gathering and analysis. In addition, the Forensic Science Center (see picture attached) will be open for limited tours, just that day for those participating.
If you are interested, please instruct your Neighborhood Council Board to place this on an upcoming agenda for funding approval and provide you with the rare opportunity to be selected as a delegate on behalf of your NC to attend. The NC Financial Support Letter in the amount of $500 and the name of the two (2) selected stakeholders approved to attend the “CS I 2009 CPAB Summit” MUST BE forwarded via e-mail to your designated NOE CPAB Member or to LAPD CPU Sgt.
