5TH MARIJUANA DISPENSARY TO OPEN IN ATWATER VILLAGE
Another medical marijuana dispensary intends to open in Atwater Village despite a city wide moratorium on new dispensaries. Accurate Services Medical Dispensary (ASMD) intends to open in mid June 2009 at 3429 Glendale Blvd with the purpose of dispensing medical marijuana.
ASMD would become the 5th medical marijuana dispensary to open in Atwater Village and the 4th located within a one block radius. The 3400 block of Glendale Blvd already has three operating marijuana dispensaries.
ASMD has applied for a hardship exemption in accordance with Medical Marijuana Interim Control Ordinance (ICO). The ICO hardship exemption process allows marijuana dispensaries to operate without any City regulation or oversight until the City Council either approves or denies their application. To date the City Council has not acted on a single hardship exemption application.
