HOMICIDE IN THE 3000 BLOCK OF SILVER LAKE BLVD IN ATWATER VILLAGE

"On Friday, December 26, 2008, at approximately 1745 hours, uniformed officers from the Los Angeles Police Department, assigned to Northeast Division responded to an “Ambulance Shooting“ radio call in the 3000 block of Silver Lake Boulevard in the Atwater Village community of Los Angeles. Upon the officer’s arrival they discovered the victim, 24 year-old, Juan Carlos Correa collapsed on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the University of Southern California Medical Center for further medical treatment. The victim failed to respond to life saving efforts and succumbed to his injuries.
Northeast homicide detectives are conducting the follow up investigation.
The motive for this incident appears to be gang related.

"On Friday, 12/26/2008 a pedestrian walking down the 3000 block of Silverlake Boulevard was confronted by two people in a vehicle. There was a verbal exchange and then the passenger and the pedestrian exchanged gun fire. The pedestrian ran away but later died of his injuries. The victim was an Atwater resident. There is no information on the suspect's vehicle or the suspects.
