Crime update from Atwater’s CPAB Reps 05/02/2007

HOMICIDE: On Saturday (April 21st) at approximately 2200 hours officers responded to LA River north of Los Feliz. Upon their arrival they observed a lifeless body of a male approximately 18 years old. Victim was shoot multiple times to the head and body. Homicide appears to be gang related. PROPERTY CRIMES: There has been an increase of property crimes in the area of Fletcher Drive, north to Glendale (Perlita, Atwater Ave, Silver Lake, Hollydale, Madera). Please do not leave valuables in vehicles and lock doors. Keep vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately to the police department.
ELDER DISTRACTION BURGLARIES: Please be aware that there are people posing as employees of LA DWP, cable company, etc. who may be uniformed, wearing ID, etc. that are entering the homes of elderly members of our community to "check out a problem." When entry into the home is gained, a partner will enter the home and steal valuables. Please keep your neighbors informed and keep an eye out for your neighbors.
